The Shape of Things to Come

Another hard one... Question 7: "If you were a shape, what shape would you be?"

Hrmmm... good one.  I've never really thought about this one before Hannah asked it, and the following answer is only a spur-of-the-moment hunch thing.

I think I'd probably be a square, because it suits my obsessive sense of logic and orderliness.  Part of me wants to say a circle, but the whole pi thing would probably annoy me too much, whereas squares don't have that problem, so I'll go with one of those.  Also, squares are tileable, which would have all sorts of implications for productivity and so on.

The phrase 'being square' might have connotations of social deficiency, but that's not going to put me off from choosing my shape because I'm socially deficient anyway.  So there!

  1. I think I might by a hexagon. Just 'cause I was allowed to be. And it's the most efficient shape in nature, which is cool.

  3. i know... i was referring to 'square' meaning 'socially deficient' in our mere earthling culture. definitely a case where the aliens know better than us.

will have to further discuss the issue of efficient shapes, as i thought squares were more efficient than hexagons. time to fire up skype, perhaps.

  4. I like the idea of being a dodecahedron but I haven't decided if my question covers 3D shapes as well as 2D or not... Also, the question is from the beginning of a song that my friend mentioned a while ago. I can't remember the song or why it starts with that question but the question has remained in my brain always wanting to be asked ever since. Like an itch to be scratched....
